Hai Phong Women’s Union Launches Meaningful Activities to Celebrate International Women’s Day
On the occasion of the 116th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 – March 8, 2026) and the 1,986th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising, the Hai Phong Women’s Union has launched a series of practical and meaningful activities to foster a vibrant spirit of emulation among its chapters and members across the city.
A key highlight of the program is the launch of “Ao Dai Week,” taking place from March 1 to March 8. Through this initiative, the Union calls upon all members, women, female officials, civil servants, and public employees in localities, agencies, and organizations throughout Hai Phong to actively participate through practical actions suited to their respective conditions. The activity aims to honor the graceful beauty of Vietnamese women while promoting the cultural value of the traditional ao dai in modern social life.
At the city level, major activities include:
A commemorative conference celebrating International Women’s Day (March 8);
Meetings to encourage and support female candidates for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term;
Commemoration of the International Day of Happiness (March 20).
In addition, the Union will launch the campaign “Building Families with 5 No’s, 3 Clean, and 3 Safe Criteria”; implement the “Godparent Program” supporting disadvantaged children; organize the First Congress of the Hai Phong Women Entrepreneurs Association; and conduct training sessions to implement the Resolution of the Hai Phong Women’s Congress for the 2025–2030 term.
At the grassroots level, Women’s Union chapters in communes, wards, special administrative units, and affiliated organizations will proactively select appropriate content and forms of activities aligned with local conditions. These efforts will be combined with communication activities promoting the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, while effectively implementing the Resolution of the Hai Phong Women’s Congress for the 2025–2030 term.
Through this diverse and practical series of activities, the Hai Phong Women’s Union continues to affirm its core role in mobilizing and empowering women, contributing to the development of modern Hai Phong women who are dynamic, creative, compassionate, and civilized.
